Uses and Operations
- All injection pads (big and small) provide sites for injection and puncture operations and are made of soft plastic. At the back of the small pad is a plastic bottle (capacity approx. 20cc). Before demonstrating phlebotomy, liquid can be placed into the bottle.
- The mouth and nose can be used to demonstrate oxygen inhalation, nasal feeding, and stomach lavage.
- A large pad on the arm is used for vein injection. At the back of the pad, a rubber tube simulates a vein; water should be injected into the rubber tube. When demonstrating glucose transfusion, place the rubber tube into a vessel and loosen the clamp to allow the liquid to flow out. Before demonstrating blood phlebotomy, liquid can be filled into the tube and the end clipped.
- The operation of hypodermic and intramuscular injections is the same as in a clinical setting. The large pad contains an internal sponge to absorb liquid, which can be removed to drain fluid. When removing the needle, do not overexert—press the pad with two fingers and gently withdraw the needle.
- When demonstrating heart resuscitation, cross the hands over the correct chest position and press downwards approximately 2.5cm. A sound will indicate correct compression. The battery is replaceable.
- Small pads used for injection or puncture can be replaced when damaged. Remove the nuts at the waist to divide the body into two parts. Unscrew the plastic bottle, replace the damaged pad, then reassemble. Large pads on the buttock and arm are also removable and replaceable.
- When demonstrating catheterisation or intestinal irrigation, insert the rubber tube into the organ for demonstration purposes only (no liquid will flow out).
- When demonstrating stomach lavage or nasal feeding, insert the nasal tube into the oesophagus and then fill with liquid. Before filling, clamp the tube at the buttock; after demonstration, loosen the clamp to allow the liquid to drain.
- After all operations, clean and dry the model and all components before reassembly. Remove all traces of liquid from the organs used.
- The model can be easily assembled by following the supplied assembly diagram.
Maintenance
- Before demonstrations, a small amount of talcum powder may be applied to injection pads for lubrication. All pads must be thoroughly cleaned after use.
- Minor plaster marks on the model surface can be removed with detergent or a mild soap solution if required.
- Ensure all parts are wiped dry and left to air dry completely.
